Just because there’s a credit crunch doesn’t mean anyone should foresake totally unnecessary gadgets right? So says Gizmodo anyway. As a self confessed gadget freak, if its a choice between food or a good leather chair I know where my money will be
An enterprising couple in San Diego have come up with a very unique idea which might just have come at the right time to ease away those credit crunch stresses.
The ‘Smash Shack’ is a place where you can go to smash stuff.
Founders Sarah Lavely and Ed King opened Sarah’s Smash Shack with the hope of bringing a little levity to life’s trials and tribulations. Our goal is to allow people to let go, let loose and go home with a smile on their face.
The inspiration for the Smash Shack came to Sarah at an especially low point in her life. She literally woke up one day and thought “I wish I could just go somewhere and break some things. Hmmm…other people must feel this way, too. I should open a shop where people can come and break stuff!” And, so the Smash Shack was born.
The Smash Shack has two break rooms where stressed out customers can go and break things from a menu the shack provides, or they can bring their own stuff to trash.
The Smash Shack house special is a stack of 15 plates which can be thrown for €45. Another 10 plates will set you back €15.
All the debris is collected and reused for various art projects.
One happy customer of the Smash Shack said:
“Smashing sh*t at the Shack was splendiferous! If you’re down or angry or happy w/nothing to do go break really awesome dishes!”.
